Ways You Wouldn’t Think Of Being MORE Sustainable

I wanted to share with you all that I am still struggling with buying sustainably because there are just certain things you can’t find without package wrapping. Like all berries, I’m not going not to eat strawberries, blueberries or raspberries even though it drives me mad. Also, the price of berries is so high I buy them as a nice treat for us at the moment...anyone else doing this? 🤷🏻‍♀️

In some local markets, when berries are in season, you can get them without plastic, which I LOVE!!! But this is just one example of how I am still purchasing items that come in plastic packaging.

But I’m comfortable now with being IMPERFECT but still advocating eco-living because there are SO MANY areas in our lives where I can be more eco-friendly, which fills me up.

Plus, this planet is soooo amazingly beautiful; why the heck wouldn’t I want to speak for it when it doesn’t have a voice that humans understand? Mother Earth is speaking to us through her language. We don’t listen and choose not to understand her.

Another big lesson I learnt on this journey for the past 5 years has been that you have to be patient. I understand that things take time, and if you do notice, businesses are listening and swapping to more sustainable packaging. Like at my local sushi place, they now give us sushi rolls in boxes or paper bags and a soy sauce bottle to self-serve by the checkout.

It can be frustrating because the scientists are saying we are running out of time because the world is still warming, and there hasn’t been enough change to create an impact that is cooling down the earth yet. But that is why we need to keep making small changes because, in the end, they will impact the MORE of us doing it.

We all came together during the pandemic to care for each other (for most of the time), so humanity is capable of collectively helping each other out for the greater good. We have all witnessed the support humanity can do when it personally affects and puts our health at risk. So why are we still struggling with being sustainable?

We can’t see the earth as being sick and unhealthy. We don’t think rivers are full of pollution as the earth is sick. We see a mess we don’t feel is our responsibility to clean up.

The extreme fires happening every year is literally the Earth telling us it has a fever! Our climate it too warm, acting out in extreme weather patterns, which causes fires, floods, hurricanes, and droughts. Our human mind still can’t connect that something like our food shop can help change the course of how we produce items in the world today.

We are always willing to do more after the fact vs. look into what we can I do today to help prevent any further harm.

COMMUNICATING - Talking About Being MORE Eco-Friendly

“Do I feel like I’m preaching when talking about Eco Living?”

A beautiful friend asked me this because she is on her own eco-friendly journey and has hit road bumps, mainly at work.

The answer is NO!

Initially, it did because I felt insecure discussing a topic that all of us should be educated on, but we are still determining if we are. My insecure feelings were my own issue I needed to overcome because I am so passionate about helping others start living their imperfect eco-living journey that the only way to start is by demonstrating it and overcoming my own fear of being judged.

People judge people for a lot worse in life, and if people don’t like me because I CARE MORE about the planet than they want to, that’s fine by me. I am not here to please everyone, I am here to serve, support and live my life purpose, which is to lead by example by living with intention (mind, body, spirit) and promoting how to CARE MORE about yourself first so that you can be more open to caring more about the planet and so much more! I talk more about having a purpose (spiritual health) in this article. Having a purpose to focus on helps you CARELESS about what others think and MORE about what you believe and value.

Why should you CARE MORE about YOUrself

Why should you CARE MORE about YOUrself

Well, my purpose in life is to inspire you reading this article to do just that... CARE MORE about yourself and not feel selfish because I am so tired of seeing people prioritise themselves last, including friends, family, and even my wonderful husband.

So talk, share and CARE about the planet because it’s all our home and our issue. But, like living in any home, you know who the slackers are when tidying up the mess or who makes the big mess in the first place.

Regardless of who makes the mess or who tries to avoid the mess in our own homes… there are those of us who will always be there to clean up after others. Even though we know it would get done much faster if we would all help clean up! The more we talk and ask for help cleaning up the earth, the faster it gets done. But if we stay quiet and get angry or too shy to ask for help, that doesn’t help either. SPEAK UP, and do not worry about the rest!

I am considering hosting a luncheon gathering with whoever wants to join me (post-birth) about brainstorming ways to have more fun with the eco-living journey.
